STATEMENT ON 3G PITCHES ISSUED

In response to questions and concerns regarding 3G artificial grass pitches a joint statement has been issued by key stakeholders.

The DCMS, Sport England, sportscotland, Sport Wales, the GMA, Football Foundation, The FA, RFL, SAPCA and England Rugby have collaborated on common areas of interest relating to the environmental sustainability of artificial grass pitches and the use of rubber crumb in 3G pitches.

The stakeholders say they understand the concerns held over the use of microplastics in 3G pitches and are "taking them very seriously".

With a recommendation of a ban announced on the sale of 3G in the EU, the stakeholders say they are "working together and with respective governments to understand what the EU ban will mean for the stock of 3G AGPs in the UK and the timings for any legislative decisions."

You can read the statement in full, along with some responses to Frequently Asked Questions, on SAPCA's website.
